All the trenches I've seen in this war are pretty plain, but I've seen some pictures of WWI trenches which were incredibly elaborate. There were actual field regulations in WW1 that were followed in terms of how wide and deep the trenches were, how to build loopholes, etc. Most of the trenches in the Ukraine War look pretty ad hoc by comparison.
