For normal, elite, and nightmare I prefer to just run Tao with an illusion. I pick this character because she gets a movement speed boost after a kill. I focus my ascensions on weapon-related traits and sword out. The illusion is the best weapon for speedrunning because it has the most consistent dmg across the board. #1.

A draw to some players is that Tao doesn't have to pick between a 'skill' or 'gun' build like Lei Luo or Ging Yan do. Tao can't really have one without the other, You need to shoot to get value out of Flower Move and you need to shoot to get value out of Sword Move. This might be considered a drawback, however.
