Isx blowing coolant out overflow but not overheating.

Apr 7, 2007 · My 2006 Peterbilt 379, Cummins ISX engine, has used 4 gallons of coolant this week. It does not appear to be leaking anywahere, but when the truck is running, you can smell hot coolant around the passenger side. The low coolant light never comes on while running, but only after being shut off for 12 hours or more. I'm guessing EGR cooler? What I did just notice though is that when the engine cools down all of the coolant in the bottle that came from the engine when it was hot is not siphoning back into the engine, leaving the bottle about 3/4 full and the block down a little then when the engine warms up again the bottle fills up and overflows some of the coolant out of the ...Step #1: Check Coolant Reservoir Levels. Its always a good idea to turn on the fan and let it idle for 5 minutes before shutting an engine down as it allows the coolant to carry all that heat away.

I end up replacing the radiator as well as the fan motors with the relay because the fans wouldn't turn on. I ended up using a power probe straight to the old fan motors and only fan #2 worked. I end up putting it all together-bled all of the air out of the cooling system with an airlift evacuation tool-and this thing is still overheating!
