I should point out that a loaded G30S weighs just a shade more than a loaded G19. The dimensions of the two pistols (G30S and G19) are essentially the same. For 5 more rounds of ammo, the G19 won. I owned a G30 years ago and the G30S shot no different and was no more accurate or less (in my recollection) than the G30.

It is the same externally as a Gen4 G30 without backstrap, without Gen4 grip texture, and without the larger Magazine Catch and its right-side installation option. The G36 slide of the G30S is lightened and less bulky because it is designed for 45ACP. The standard width for the subs and compacts is 1.18" wide. So, if the the G30s is 1.10" or even 1.18" wide for all that matter, and has a better grip fron to back (G30SF vs. original G30) and excepts my original G30/G21 mags, then my next Glock is the G30s. A call to Glock tomorrow will clarify this 100%.

Larger magazine capacity, grip frame and slide (4"), Probably closer, overall, to the G30. The Shield 45 may not be the simplest gun for someone who can't help themselves when it comes to tinkering. Good gun, though. Clean and lube to instructions and don't start taking it apart beyond field-stripping.
