About 2 weeks ago on the way to work the truck started bucking violently and died. Pulled codes and got p0366 crank sensor. Took it to a mechanic I know and he replaced crank sensor. FluidDampr is being installed on the new motor before it gets dropped in. After consulting with many folks who work on Duramaxes that seems to be the only common issue with broken cranks is the possibility that the balancer has gone bad. Hopefully will pull it and see what exactly went when I get the truck back.
