Why continue the forum if when people ask a question they get scolded for repetition. The same topics are rehashed ad infinitum but such is the nature of a travel forum. I think it is about 90 miles long. You can go all week and never loose sight of land but sail for 3-4 hours a day and spend the morning or afternoon at a different mooring on a different island. With the USVI there are 3 main islands. The sail from St. Thomas to St. Croix is a little longer than up drake's channel. 2. Re: USVI Travel Portal. 2 years ago. Save. I've seen that up through April is the "best" time to visit, whereas into June you start to hit hurricane season, then heavy summer heat and the worst of the bugs.

We will do 1 day via boat or tour, but the other days will be start offs from the beach. Would appreciate recommendations about best bug repellants for 1. prevention of bug bites, 2. to spray around outdoor living/dining area and 3. to keep kitchen "critters" away.
