I visited the sales office in Brownwood yesterday and they had two free maps available. One was a golf cart map with the main trails and tunnels outlined in red and the other map was a fold out general map od The Villages . The maps were not out in the open but inside a cupboard in the main area. Ask one of the greeters for a map.,
The paid version has had some reliability issues (less than 1% downtime) but the directions for golf carts are much more granular than free, waze or Google maps. I don't often use it but I find it the overall better app. JMHO.
