Julius Worth Pell was born at Kingwood, Preston County, on August 29, 1850. His father removed to Roane County in 1852 where the family remained until the outbreak of the civil war. After the war Mr. Pell lived with his parents at Elizabeth and Burning Springs, coming to Grantsville on June 1, 1875, nearly thirty-five years ago.Purdy was born in 1974 at Chloe, and is now a professor at Columbia, formerly professor of law at Duke University and the author of several widely-discussed books including "For Common Things: Irony, Trust, and Commitment in America Today" (1999) and "Being America: Liberty, Commerce and Violence in an American World" (2003).We've heard from a number of faithful readers in the past few weeks regarding the closure of the Herald.
