M4 vs 1301.
The 1301 (any variant) is the more practical shotgun IMO/E, but for the same $, the M4 is a steal. I have both. I don't have as much time behind the 1301 as the M4 but so far both have been reliable for me. I'm tempted to say the M4 might have the edge over the 1301 since it's been well regarded by military users.
It's really lightweight, which is great when you're not shooting it. The new version has a barrel threaded for choke tubes, several of which are included. Ultra reliable and not that bad in recoil. The 1301 is light as all get out but recoil is light. Like there is no way a shotgun that light should recoil this light. Those Berettas are stellar. The M4 was a dream come true. I had NO intentions of buying a 1301, and had no idea what it was. Then came across a YouTube video comparison of it and an M4 and thought, how dare you compare the 2 guns. But it drew me in, and well my M4 will always be my #1, the Beretta is my #1.5! Quote.

We sell a ton of both Benellis and Berettas. Both are great guns. But the M4 is overpriced and overrated because of its military use. If it weren’t used by the armed forces and in every FPS video game, it would be $500 less or else they wouldn’t sell any of them. The 1301 is just as good, if not better, and is significantly less.
The M4 is better in nearly every metric. The only downside being the lesser capacity due to import restrictions and the extra pound of weight. It cycles smoother, shoots softer, and has a superior operating system. The blink system in the beretta is awesome, but not as refined as the argo.

The Benelli M4 is a great shotgun but it’s heavier than the 1301. Then depending on the set up you’re going to spend additional money to tweak it to fit your needs. However, it also has the same versatility limitations as the M4. And lastly, Stoeger makes some Benelli design shotguns that cost half of what an M2 costs and run extremely well.

But if you have to have one, 1301. Faster shooter, better ergos, lighter. I have a LTT 1301 & a M4. I have both. I’ve had zero malfunctions with the m4 and a handful with the 1301. The 1301 seems faster. M4 feels tougher. If I could only keep one I would keep the m4. In the end neither are cheap.The 1301 is way way way faster with its cycling action than the M2.. Having said that I doubt you can outshoot either one. Think of the M2 as like a kahr double action trigger semi pistol and the 1301 like a single action 1911 in regards to their cycling speed. Dec 23, 2022 · Have a 1301 and it makes shooting so much easier than using the Moss 500. The double is easier on my shoulder but the 1301 gives more rounds before a reload. Arthritis has made a pump hurt racking the slide, also fast arm movement to draw a pistol hurts. A 1301 cross slung seems to cause the smallest amount of discomfort.
