It gave extra coverage on a tube that timed out just barely covering the buffer retainer but one more turn was too far and the top of the tube went past the top inside of the lower. I thought it would catch on for tube since it was had advantages over the ones that extended on both sides of the buffer retaining pin. Never did as far as I have seen.
