I have a 2017 Santa Fe XL. Just recently the back up camera stopped working a lovely 2 months after the warranty ended. I of course suspect it's a faulty camera. But the tail gate won't open unless I have the keys with me by the gate or I use the inside switch by the rear view mirror.I've got a 2018 2.0T Ultimate. A few weeks ago, the backup camera died. I had an intermittent problem with the backup camera for a while showing the map with guidelines over it instead of turning for the rear view camera picture. I thought it was a connection or transmission related problem. Now it's no longer an intermittent problem.

back up camera worked this morning but after a short drive it stopped working along with front view camera, screen stays in radio mode but when shifting into reverse stays showing radio same with in drive no front camera and button by shifter will not illuminate. Hyundai Mechanic: AutoDoc1. It looks like it's aftermarket. You'll have to get a different camera. It's probably wired wrong. That is the most common issue for this problem. I would get one made by Hyundai. I assume it didn't have this problem before you replaced it.
