The rear diff fluid does not like to be contaminated. Use only Honda fluids except for the transfer assembly (any quality 80w-90 GL4 or 5 hypoid gear oil.) Some of us use Mobil1 75w-90 hypoid gear oil. And of course the motor oil of your choice. All other fluids: recommendation is to stick with Honda fluids.
You should normally change the rear differential fluid when you see code 6 appear on the Maintenance Minder. This typically happens at an oil change around 15,000, 45,000, 75,000, 105,000 miles, etc. Some owners see this code as early as 12,000 miles. In fact, someone on the Facebook Ridgeline groups reported getting codes B16 at 10,000 miles.It calculates transmission fluid life for the transmissions in 2009-2019 Ridgelines, but not 2006-2008 or 2020-2023 Ridgelines. Need to change rear differential on my 2017 Ridgeline... local dealer parts dept sold me Acura-All-Wheel-Drive-Fluid-DPSF. claiming they are out of Honda Dual Pump Fluid Ii and that the Acura fluid is the same EXACT fluid as the Honda stuff. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I did the oil and filter myself at 7,500 but since this one needed extras like the rear differential and various inspections I decided to have the dealer do it. Braking an individual rear wheel would simply result in wasting power through heating of the brake and clutch pack on the wheel being braked. Instead of transferring power, it would dissipate power.
