While there used to be several adapter manufacturers offering a HD to VW kit, to my knowledge Rewaco is the only viable source for them anymore. Most of the suppliers quit offering them due to rear bearing failure in the motor (too much VW flywheel stuck on the HD crank end).Dave63. It's a direct swap but the 6-speed trans cover (right side) will have to be used as the gear set extends farther out with the 6-speed. OEM gearing on a 5-speed is the same as a 6-speed up to and including 5th gear, which is 1:1 ratio. 6th gear is .86:1. Not usable really, until 60 mph if not lugging, or on anything but a level road.
