First, Tonfa is an amazing weapon and has a ton of potential to literally bully bosses to death. Second, Splitstaff is another good weapon here mainly because of of Dragon Dance spam against out-of-ki bosses.

I see ton of Odachi and Switchglaives, followed by Hatchets, Kusarigama, Fists and spears. This got me wonder - how much some weapons have better potential than others. The most interested aspect I'd be interested in is tier list for end-game content (Underworld and late NG+s). Definitely Tonfa. Shin Crusher on splitstaff is still excellent for ki damage. Odachi gets forgotten when people talk about ki, but it's probably the best combination of ki damage + regular damage in the game. Of those three, best ki damage in general use would be tonfa.
