P1299 help - 2014 Escape 1.6l. I have a 2014 ford escape 1.6l that went into limp mode for engine Temp sensor. Normal temp on the gauge. I shut the car off and started it back up. Engine light on and drove it home. It drove good. used my code reader and got the p1299.2005 Ford Escape. Asked by Visitor in Pittsburg, KS on March 11, 2021. After it stalled on the Hwy it restarted and ran fine for a couple weeks. Then it started running rough and went into limp mode made it home (5-6 miles) Code reader said it was an ignition coil bank D code.Received 2 Likes on 2 Posts. Turn the ignition off and back on and it's fine. After the first time I cleaned then blanket the egr drilling a 5mm hole inthe plate as mine is the euro 4 later model.

So now ford has programmed the following years to go into limp mode when the coolant gets below a certain level. The vehicle will not go back into normal mode until the codes are cleared. You could try disconnecting the battery for an hour but it probably still be in limp mode. The escape is a good vehicle but those 1.6 engines are junk.

Hi, We have a 2013 Escape with the dreaded 1.6L engine. It has 11,200 miles and this problem has happened 4 or 5 times. The last two times was within 10 days and 200 miles. This is what happens from everything being normal. First indication is that the power steering shuts off. A safety concern.
