124 vs 115 9mm.
Some 124 gr 9mm ammo has a very low MV, and some MV are up there with the fast 115 gr ammo, and this is also the case for the 147 gr 9mm ammo as well. In my ballistics file, I show that some of the 124 gr 9mm ammo has a MV of only 1050 fps, which produces only 304 ft. lbs. of Muzzle Energy (ME – the power rating).

Also the shorter your barrel the less velocity you would get out of your bullet. I carry the Speer Gold Dot 124+P in my Glock 26 subcompact and Kahr P9 as it is a very accurate round out of MY gun.

But the 115 gr +P (+) has nearly the mass and nearly the velocity, thus making it the closest round to achieve the legendary 125 gr .357 magnum ballistics. AND it can do that from a 3" barrel.
